On one of the oldest streets of Krakow, near the Archdiocesan Museum and the Biskupi Palace, the former residence of Cardinal Karol Wojtyla, is a tenement house with an extraordinary history. And in it there is also an unusual restaurant, Trattoria La Campana, where the scent lingers of olives, Italian herbs and freshly cut flowers from the La Campana garden. This is the only restaurant of its kind in Krakow Old Town.

The historic townhouse, known as the “House under the Three Crowns” in which La Campana is housed, was once the meeting place of the Wawel Bells Brotherhood, custodians of the Zygmunt Bell. Hence the name “la campana”, which in a free translation means “bell”. As tradition goes, after some hard work – swinging the thirteen-ton colossus bell requires a lot of effort – members of the Brotherhood met in the local inn to recover their forces.

This place was so nearly perfect that we ate there 4 times in 3 days. Has a large outdoor garden setting with widely spaced tables. Especially romantic in evening, with great singer Wed-Sat. Excellent Italian food.

Our dinner party had a very enjoyable meal with a musical trio plying for entertainment. Our waitstaff was friendly and efficient and the salads and pasta delicious. We will specifically recommend the asparagus appetizer!

This restaurant is the equivalent to Narnia. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but it hides a beautiful garden, which makes you feel like you're actually in Italy. The food is superb! The desserts are outstanding.

Absolutely lovely restaurant which we found by accident; busy when we first found it and booked for the next evening. Romantic interiors, staff were faultless and the food (we had two simple pasta dishes) was faultless.
